Deputy Director

Location: Leicester or London. Hybrid working: home-based 2-3 days per week, and the remainder in an L&W office.

Line manager: Director of Policy and Research

Team: Research and Development/Policy and Communications

Salary: £63,000 – £76,125 per annum, dependent on experience and location

Duration: 1 year maternity cover

Working hours: Full-time, flexibility or part-time considered

The role of Deputy Director is a key one helping to develop Learning and Work Institute’s programme of research and development, as our strategic lead for employment. Each year across the team, we secure and deliver around £4m worth of projects looking at the big challenges in learning, skills and employment.

With the Director of Policy and Research and alongside other Deputy Directors, you will help to lead our Research and Development team. This will include taking responsibility for continuing to build a clear programme of work, securing funding, and delivering innovative and impactful projects.

You will be a credible and influential voice on employment-related issues – with local and national government, media, funders and wider stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise and experience in policy and research; building and leading high-performing teams; and business development and income generation.
