The lack of high quality flexible job opportunities acts as a barrier for many people to entering work, staying in work whilst managing care and health needs, and to progressing in work. The coronavirus pandemic has required many employers rapidly to re-design how work is done, and to offer greater opportunities for flexible working. As we look to tackle unemployment after the crisis – and to build back better – promoting more high quality flexible and part time job opportunities will be vital to delivering a more inclusive labour market, and ensuring those who need to work flexibly are not left behind.

 At this Better Work Network event, we will discuss: 

• Findings from the latest Timewise Flexible Jobs Index, what it tells us about the availability of quality flexible and part time job vacancies during 2020, and whether the crisis has changed employers openness to advertise jobs as open to flex from the point of hire.  
• How the pandemic has impacted employers approaches to flexible working, and which workers are benefiting or not?
• The role flexible work can play in tackling unemployment, helping people into work and supporting in-work progression
• What works in supporting employers to create flexible jobs?
