Thursday 7 November | 1pm – 2pm | A Lifelong Learning Week event
Faced with longer working lives and an economy in transition, many more of us will need to update our skills and change careers as we go along. Yet UK employers are facing a critical skills shortage, and people who are older, further from the labour market, or from lower socio-economic groups are most likely to miss out on learning as adults.
Vocational technology (VocTech) promises to narrow inequalities and widen opportunity by making learning as an adult more accessible. Research shows VocTech can help people furthest from education overcome confidence barriers by creating a safe space to practice and gain new skills without fear of judgement. But how easy is it to introduce to formal learning and what do commissioners and providers need to know first?
This interactive webinar explored not just the potential of VocTech to get more adults learning, but the practice. Partnering with Ufi VocTech Trust and drawing on insights from the latest Adult Participation in Learning Survey, we got cogs whirring by sharing examples of award-winning VocTech programmes that are transforming lives up and down the country.
