A higher skills ambition for Northern Ireland: Skills for growth and social inclusion

Wednesday 27 January 2021 | 2.00 – 4.00pm

Skills are central to economic growth and social inclusion. Yet Northern Ireland has a higher proportion of people with no or low qualifications and a lower proportion with high level qualifications, such as degrees or postgraduate education, than many comparator countries.

A new report from Learning and Work Institute, commissioned by OCN Northern Ireland, looks at the importance of skills and presents new analysis of how Northern Ireland’s skills base would compare to other countries in 2030 on current trends. It then makes recommendations to deliver a higher ambition.

This event will explore the results of the new analysis, discuss what the priorities for improving skills should be, and debate how we can best improve and widen access to learning and skills.
