Adult Learning Partnerships in Wales
Adult Community Learning (ACL) provides flexible learning opportunities for adults and families, delivered in venues in the community to meet local needs. There is an Adult Learning Partnership in every Local Authority area and a lead for adult community learning in each Local Authority and Further Education Institution.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has commissioned the Institute for Employment Studies, in partnership with Learning and Work Institute, to deliver evidence reviews and practical resources on key labour market issues to help inform local policymakers.

Inspire! Adult Learning Awards
Nominations have opened for the 2026 Inspire! Adult Learning Awards. The annual awards are organised by Learning and Work Institute in partnership with the Welsh Government, and they celebrate the exceptional achievements of individuals and community projects in Wales that demonstrate outstanding passion, commitment, and drive to improve themselves and their community through lifelong learning.

Inspire! Tutor Awards
The annual Inspire! Tutor Awards recognise the valuable work of tutors and mentors in supporting lifelong learning across Wales. We are inviting nominations on behalf of outstanding individuals whose commitment, knowledge and teaching skills have given adults the confidence to engage with learning and transform their lives.

A Work, Health, and Skills Plan for Wales
This research delivered by Learning and Work Institute, and funded by Serco, comes at a pivotal moment to inform a significant new era for employment support in Wales. The commitment from the UK Government to devolve non-Jobcentre Plus support is part of a broader strategy, outlined in the recently released Get Britain Working White Paper, which aims to streamline and enhance employment support mechanisms across the UK.

Adult Learners' Week is an annual campaign that inspires adults to take a step back into learning to improve their confidence and wellbeing, switch careers and progress in work, discover new hobbies and connect with other people or to seek advice and guidance on the existing pathways available to them.

Empowering learner ambassadors
Engaging and motivating more adults to have the confidence to join adult learning and listening to learners about what works is essential to drive up the skills levels across Wales. The Medr Strategic Plan identifies learner voice and learner engagement as key priorities.
