Using funding from the Homes for Ukraine scheme, the South East Strategic Partnership for Migration (SESPM) engaged Learning and Work Institute to deliver an ESOL capacity building programme in the South East of England. This research was designed to inform the roll-out of the capacity building programme, as well as to inform feedback to government on ESOL policy by contributing to a better understanding of the challenges, opportunities and support required at both policy and practice level to boost opportunities for participation in ESOL.
The mixed-methods research used an online survey and individual qualitative interviews with ESOL providers to explore:
- How providers plan their ESOL provision to meet local needs.
- The level of demand for ESOL provision in different areas of the South East
- Eligibility for funding and how this affects the supply of ESOL provision
