Learning and Work Institute (L&W) and Inclusion London are conducting research on behalf of Central London Forward, and funded by the Greater London Authority, to inform the delivery of the new Connect to Work employment programme, which will be delivered in London from 2025 to 2029.

Connect to Work is a new programme funded by Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). It provides voluntary support to people who are economically inactive, unemployed, or at risk of falling out of work due to their disability or long-term health conditions.

In London, there are approximately 280,000 people who are economically inactive due to ill health or disability, many of whom may wish to work with the right support.

L&W, along with Inclusion London, a pan-London Deaf and Disabled People’s Organisation, are supporting Central London Forward in understanding the perspectives of service users, providers and employers in 12 Central London Boroughs. As part of this research, we will be speaking to:

  • disabled people and people with long term health conditions in central London, to gain insight into their experiences of finding and staying in employment and accessing employment support
  • employers, local service providers delivering employment support, and business organisations in central London, to explore perspectives on employing disabled people and people with long-term health conditions

This research will inform the rollout of Connect to Work in Central London.
