This project was designed to support prisoners with ESOL needs, and practitioners working in the secure estate.

Funded by the Bell Foundation and delivered in partnership with De Montfort University, the project aimed to address the limited evidence on the scale of ESOL needs in prisons by developing and testing an ESOL screening tool for the secure estate.

The project also identified a need to support ESOL practitioners with up to date and relevant teaching and learning materials and developed a new tutor resource pack based on the Citizens’ Curriculum developed by Learning and Work Institute.
